How to Split a Booking in regards to increased VAT in 2026.
Only applicable in the Netherlands: With the VAT rate for rooms increasing from 9% to 21% in 2026, any existing reservations— those extending across both 2025 and 2026—must be split to ensure the correct VAT is applied for each stay date.
Reservations with an overlap between 2025 and 2026 need to be split into 2025 stay dates and 2026 stay dates.
The split is done by two actions
1) adding a room with arrival date as of 01.01.2026
2) change the original room departure date to 01.01.26.
In that order.

Step 1 - Add Room:
- Click on the + sign next to the existing room to add a new room and only change the arrival date to 01.01.26 and amend the rates if necessary (check below note):

⚠️IMPORTANT NOTE
If the selected room type for this booking is unavailable, you will need to adjust the stay dates of the reservation first before you can add a room.
For detailed guidance on managing this situation, please refer to the final section of this article.⏬
⚠️Important Note on Rates
When you add a new room, the system will display the current applicable rates. Before saving the added room, be sure to review (check the rates in the original room) and, if necessary, adjust these rates so they match the original reservation value.

- Click on the Add Room button afterwards to save:

☝️Please Note:
By default, the new room will include only one guest, so be sure to add any additional guests afterwards from the original booking to this room as needed.

Step 2 - Change original Room departure date:
- Next, update the departure date of the original room to January 1, 2026, by selecting the pen icon / edit button beside it:

- The added room will have to be allocated to the same room number as the original room with the amended departure date of 01.01.26:

A split is now generated, resulting in two new proformas—one for each room—with the applicable VAT rates for 2025 and 2026 correctly applied.

☝️Mind you!
Always review your proformas before finalising them.
For split bookings, ensure that each proforma includes just one Room VAT: 9% VAT (low) for stays in 2025, and one Room VAT 21% (high) for stays in 2026.
If the VAT is not displayed correctly, simply click the recalculate button to automatically update and correct the VAT on the document:
- In the Billing Section go to See Billings:

- Click on Recalculate

⚠️ Please be aware of the following⚠️
NO AVAILABILITY SCENARIO:
If the required room type is unavailable when splitting a booking, you will first need to adjust the reservation's stay dates. Begin by changing the departure date to 01.01.26. This action releases one room back into availability, which enables you to add that room to the booking for the new period starting 01.01.26. ⚠️Please note: once the room is released, it becomes available for all guests to book. To avoid losing the room, add it to the booking immediately after changing the departure date.
👉Before changing the original room's departure date to 01.01.26, make sure to review and note the applicable daily rates for that period. This ensures that when you add the new room, you will be able to apply the correct rates as they were at the time of the original booking.
